Most of these pictures were taken with ordinary ASA 400 35mm Fuji film, and developed with Konica's PictureShow software. The developing service sends you files in a proprietary format, but, fortunately, there is a decent translating program sent with the pictures. (Unfortunately, it runs only on Windoze, which just complicates the matter needlessly. Why not just store normal JPEG files? If it weren't for this piece of silliness, I'd recommend this as a nifty service. *Sigh* ...)
The latest series of pictures, starting with the January 1997 ones, were taken with ASA 200 35mm Fuji film, and developed using Kodak's Picture Disk service. I recommend this over Konica's service, because the pictures come in a normal format (JPEG, both full-size and thumbnails), so I don't need a Windoze PC anymore, and because they appear to have a lot higher image quality.
One batch of the latest pictures were developed using Seattle FilmWorks "Pictures on Disk!" service. I'm not at all satisfied with this service. Although the resolution is good on the pictures, the contrast and color balance are terrible, they deliver the pictures in a proprietary format for no reason at all, and the PC-based software they force you to use to export the pictures into standard formats is exceedingly slow and has a user interface straight from Hell. I won't be doing this again. I wouldn't recommend this service even if I were a PC user.
