Principal's Notes

This year we are rotating the pick up duty for teachers, so the same teachers are not on duty at pick up. Because they do not know all the drivers, we need a way to identify which children are going into which cars. To that end, we are going to be handing out file folders on which we ask you to print in large letters the names of the children you are picking up at the end of the day. If you share pick up with a neighbor only some days, please take two folders and put the names on each folder. We will be handing out folders over the next two weeks. If you have other family members or friends who help you with pick up, please take a folder for that person also.

Thank you for your help with this matter.

Literacy Volunteer Program

This year the Kittredge School will be participating in Literacy Volunteer program offered in several of our elementary schools. We are looking for volunteers willing to commit to 2 days a week for about an hour each day, from October through April. The program targets students in 1st grade, but you do not have to have a child in 1st grade to participate. Training will be provided to all volunteers. Please contact the office if you are interested.

Map Stencil Painting

We are in need of parent volunteers to help "stencil" a map of the USA on the playground this Fall. We need to do it during the day, and most likely during the week. If we could get enough people it would not take that long. Please call Lisa Riedel +1 978 687 1363 or blcer@comcast.net if you are interested.

Hero Art

NASEC is pleased to host its first performance of the year this week. Even the child whose entire day may be summed up as "fine" will come home talking after Hero Art visits on Friday, September 29th. Students in K through 5 will watch as nationally-recognized artist Rob Surette paints giant canvases in minutes. Ten portraits of inspirational people (such as Abraham Lincoln, William Shakespeare, and Beethoven) will appear before their eyes as students are encouraged to "Be Somebody."

Genevieve Fundraiser

Our major fundraiser of the year begins next week on Tuesday October 3rd and runs thru October 17th. At the beginning of next week we will be sending home a packet with each child. If you have any questions please call Lisa Riedel at +1 978 687 1363.

NASEC Art Auction

NASEC's 20th Anniversary Celebration and Silent Art Auction was a great success on September 16th and 17th. Many thanks to the students and parents who participated. The arts make our lives beautiful. The auction also helped beautify your school. The lovely yellow mums, donated by the Country Store to decorate the auction, are now gracing the schools around town!

NASEC Charges Ahead

NASEC is a non-profit organization that brings quality performances to your child during the school year. This year for the first time, NASEC will be accepting contributions to the Enrichment Council via credit card using Pay Pal.

Last week your family received a solicitation letter, via your child's backpack, from the North Andover Schools Enrichment Council (NASEC). Our annual fundraising drive, along with PTO support and this year's first-ever art auction, provide the funding to bring exciting programs into the elementary and middle schools in town. To charge your donation, visit our website at www.nasec.northandoverpublicschools.com and click on the payment button at the bottom of the "NASEC Fundraising" screen.
