From The Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome or welcome back to the Kittredge School! We return to school energized and refreshed, filled with enthusiasm and anticipation about the 2006-2007 school year.

We have a staff changes at Kittredge this year. Ms. Deborah Firicano is our Kindergarten teacher, replacing Stacey Wood who moved to first grade. We have a new Music teacher, Mr. Ryan Landry, who we share with the Atkinson School. Ms. Kim Hordon is officially our new Special Education teacher; she was with us last year but worked on a per diem basis. Ms. Patricia Parent is the new Physical Ed teacher. She joins us from the High School. Ms. Amy Gannon has accepted a position at the Atkinson School, teaching first grade. Ms. Karen Good replaces her as a teaching assistant. Welcome to all of our new staff members!

Unfortunately because of budgetary restraints the elementary librarians positions were eliminated district-wide. We are looking at ways to provide service to our teachers and students, but until we come up with a workable solution, our libraries are closed.

Finally, as you should already know by now, I am the principal of both the Kittredge School and Atkinson School. I am doing my best to divide my time equitably between both schools, but I ask for your patience and understanding as I juggle the responsibilities of running two schools.

I'd like to remind you of a few important measures we have in place in order to ensure the safety of our students. Please send in a note if you intend to make a change in your child's end of day pick-up routine. Sometimes it is confusing for your child to remember without a note to the teacher. We ask all visitors to sign in at the office and take a visitor's tag, even if your visit will be a quick one.

When dropping your child off in the morning, please do not allow him/her to get out of the car until you are at the teacher on duty. Although it takes a few minutes more, it helps us keep everyone safe. When picking up at the end of the day, please place a sign on the dashboard with the last name of the child (children) you are picking up. This will help move the line along as there may be different teachers dismissing children each day.

Finally, please never hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions or ideas you may have. Together we can make this year a successful one for all of the Kittredge School Community.

Principal
