Kittredge Elementary School

The schedule for the admistration of MCAS is as follows:

Make-up testing will be done as necessary on May 19th, 26th, 31st and June 1st.

It is important for your children to be present and on time, get plenty of sleep and have a good breakfast. Please encourage your children to do their best!

School Committee meetings will be held every Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the NAHS auditorium. Can't attend? Meetings are televised on Channel 10. Current anticipated shortfall for the FY07 school budget is approximately 3.3 million dollars. Please be aware that deep cuts are expected!

Schools, churches, civic workers, and neighbors are pitching in to help hundreds of people devastated by the flood waters. Please check www.northandover.org for complete details of our town-wide effort to help our neighbors.

PTOs in town have joined together to collect some much needed items. Collection bins will be set up at the following locations for specific donations:

• Franklin School: Bathroom - toothpaste, cleaning supplies, band aids, soaps, shampoo, towels, shower curtains, bath mats
• Atkinson School: Kitchen - cleaning supplies, dish towels, mops, brooms, small kitchen gadgets
• Thomson and Kittredge Schools: Bedroom - blankets, sheets, pajamas, pillows
• Kittridge and North Andover High School: Bottled water
• Sargent School: Clothes - new socks, underwear, T-shirts
• North Andover Middle School: Paper goods - paper towels, napkins, plates, cups, toilet paper, wet ones, Clorox wipes, plastic silverware

Please join us for our final meeting of the school year Thursday, June 1st at 7:00 PM at the Atkinson School. School nurses will hold a forum on "Allergies and Asthma: Transition into School."

The written works of ten Kittredge School students have been selected for publication in the spring edition of AppleSeed Magazine. This edition includes the writing and artwork of more than 130 third, fourth and fifth grade students from 19 elementary schools in the Greater Lawrence Educational Collaborative. The newly published authors include:

• 3A: Emily Colwell, Olivia Ghikas, John Smolak
• 4A: Helen Dolloff
• 5A: Drexel Costello, Micaela Donatio
• 5B: Deirdre Martyn, Owen O'Leary, Jackie Oulette and Abbie Weeks

The Kittredge School will receive several copies of the spring edition of AppleSeed. Additional copies will be available for purchase from the Greater Lawrence Educational Collaborative.

Registration for the North Andover Soccer Association (NASA) 2006 fall season has initiated using the popular on-line registration system found on our website www.nasoccer.com. Returning or new members may register for the spring season via this link or may register at the walk-in registration on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006, at the North Andover Middle School from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. After June 5th, NASA will only be accepting late registrations (with late fee for returning families) until team rosters are filled.

2006 Summer Camp - Registration for NASA's Summer Camp program is also using the same on-line registration process. Reserve your child's spot early!

A class for students who meet grade level expectations in writing and would like to learn specific, strategies for organizing and writing well-developed compositions. The session will be held twice weekly for four weeks in July in North Andover. The class will be taught by two experienced teachers currently working in the Andover public schools. Are you starting spring cleaning or thinking about it? Save the dates June 24th and 25th, 2006, and save your stuff for a North Andover town wide yard sale sponsored by NASWAC (the North Andover recycling committee). For a $10 registration fee to cover advertising, NASWAC will advertise your address along with addresses of all the participants in town. Registration details will be given later this spring. But meanwhile, save the dates and your stuff!!

In celebration of 20 years of providing quality programs for North Andover school children, the North Andover Schools Enrichment Council will hold a 20th Anniversary Town-Wide Silent Art Auction at the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center on September 16 and 17. Mark your calendars now! The event will include artwork from professional, amateur and young artists. NASEC will split the proceeds with the artists.

Parents, please encourage your child to create something special this summer for the auction! Volunteers are also needed to make this event a success. For more information, please contact Molly Fowler at RMFowler@comcast.net.
