From the Principal

Dear Kittredge Families,

The placement teams will be meeting before the end of June to create class assignments for the next school year. The placement procedure is a very involved and thoughtful process. Factors we consider for placement include academic performance, achievement, gender, as well as social and personality factors. Written input from parents regarding placement for students in the fall of 2005 will be welcomed until Friday, April 15th. Please include in your comments what you see as the learning style of your child and the class environment in which you believe he or she learns best. A request for a particular teacher cannot be accepted. Our goal is to create classes balanced academically and socially to meet each learner's needs. Any letter stating the name of a particular teacher is disregarded and not considered for placement. Please send your letters directly to Nancy Jukins, Principal, for careful consideration. Thank you in advance.

MCAS News

The 4th graders will be taking the MCAS Long Composition on Wednesday, April 6th. The teachers have been helping your child prepare all year for this writing assessment. It is important for your child to be present and on time, get plenty of sleep and have a good breakfast. Please encourage your children to do their best!

Animal Adventure Program

On Wednesday April 6th, the Enrichment council is bringing the program "Animal Adventure - Animal Habitats" to the Kittredge School for the first and second grade students. The program focuses on describing animal habitats with a live demonstration of animals from the desert, rainforest, mountains, and our own backyard. The children will learn about the animals' diets, special features of the demonstrated animals and special care and safety when caring for animals. Children will be selected from the audience to pet or hold animals. The students will wash their hands after the program. If for any reason you would prefer that your child not touch any of the animals, please send a note to the classroom teacher expressing your wishes and let your child know.
