Family Vacations

Recently we have had several requests from families taking vacations while school is in session for homework or make-up work. Although there is no policy regarding taking students out of school for a vacation, we do encourage families to plan vacations to coincide with school vacations. It is very difficult for teachers to prepare work ahead of time, especially at the elementary level. We suggest having your child read a book and keep a journal of the trip while away, and make up any written work when he or she returns. Thank you for your support and understanding regarding this matter.

Fourth grade students will discover "Art Across Regions of America" with Carin Dobin of ArtQuest on Thursday, March 10. Some of the famous artists included in the program are Paul Revere, Childe Hassam, Winslow Homer, Grant Wood, and Georgia O'Keefe.

Programs such as these reflect the quality and variety that NASEC brings to North Andover students. Your child will soon bring home a letter asking for your financial support of NASEC. This non-profit organization consists of parents volunteering their time to provide children with well-rounded educations. Donations come strictly from families in town; no support comes from the state or from town or school budgets. Please respond generously so that NASEC may book wonderful programs this spring for the next school year. NASEC also welcomes additional volunteers.
