Happy Holidays

Winter Vacation - December 24- December 31, 2004
School Reopens - January 3, 2005

From the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we approach the end of the year, I thought this might be a good time to review some of our safety rules. In order to ensure the safety of our children, we ask the following:

  1. Please check in at the office any time you enter the building. Do not go directly to your child's classroom. All visitors are being asked to sign in and take a visitor's pass, even if the visit is brief.
  2. Please notify the school if: there are any custodial issues we need to be aware of; your child is absent; you have any questions or concerns about school related issues.
  3. Please send a note if: your child is going home in a different patrol; your child is to be dismissed early; there are any changes in pick-up.
  4. Please check in at the office to sign your child out for an early dismissal.

Thank you for your cooperation and support of these matters. Working together we will be better able to maintain a safe environment for all of our children!

Winter Reminder

Winter officially arrives on December 21. Please note the following: Children do go outside for recess unless it is snowy, rainy, or below 20°. Please make sure your child has appropriate outerwear for winter weather. Mittens, hats and boots should be labeled. A clothespin is a helpful way to keep them from being lost. Children are not allowed to play in the snow without snow pants and waterproof boots. It is advisable to keep an extra pair of shoes, mittens or gloves, and a hat in school.

Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season, a wonderful vacation, and a New Year filled with peace and happiness.

Nancy Jukins

Attention New Kittredge Families
Cook Books Still Available

Don't miss out, supplies are limited. Last year Kittredge published a school cookbook. The book is a collection of over 200 favorite Kittredge family recipes. Allison Macmillan's Pork Loin w/Apples, Laura Biermann's Linguine w/Tomatoes, Basil & Cream & Angela Jennings' Almond Toffee Butter Crunch are just a few of the wonderful recipes you will find. The cost of the book is $5.00. To order, please contact Lynda Roberts at +1 978 683 9874.

Recycle ALL Your Plastics

You can now recycle ALL plastics curbside in North Andover! On the bottom of every plastic container is a raised triangle with a number inside of it. The town used to collect only plastic with a number 1 or 2. Now, ANY NUMBER is picked up. You cannot recycle styrofoam, and plastic bags have to be returned to the grocery store.

Openings on North Andover Cultural Council

The North Andover Cultural Council has two openings for volunteers. This committee distributes state money through a com-petitive grant process to members of our community involved in artistic or cultural pursuits. The Council helps support school field trips, events for seniors, events at the library, concerts on the common and more. The Council meets 3-5 times per year with the most important meeting in November. For info, call Nancy Egan at +1 978 557 0172 or Joanne Parrill at +1 978 689 4452.

Pre-Paid Lunch Tickets

The school lunch program gladly accepts prepayment for school lunches on a weekly or monthly basis. Should you wish to exercise this option, please send your payment in on a Monday with your child. Once we have received your payment, we will issue your child prepaid tickets to be used at lunch instead of money. It would be helpful if you included with your check, your child's name, their grade and which meals you are prepaying for (regular, alternate or enhanced). Please be reminded that the regular and alternate meal is $1.75 and the enhanced is $2.75.
