I have received a few inquiries about the recently established Name-Calling Policy. I'd like to clarify a few concerns that have been raised. Teachers deal with each identified case of name-calling individually, hear out all parties involved, and then make a decision about whether a detention is assigned. No child will ever be assigned a detention without a teacher investigating and evaluating the situation. Thank you for your concerns and continued partnership in making the Kittredge a safe place for all students to learn.

From the Health OfficeHand washing is the single most effective way to prevent infection. With the shortage of flu vaccine this year, it is important to review hand washing technique with your children as well as appropriate times to wash hands. Please reinforce with your children that hands need to be washed before eating, after using the bathroom, and after coughing, sneezing or using a tissue.
To promote hand washing in the classroom, we are requesting that parents send in donations of liquid hand sanitizer to your classroom teacher. Brands, such as Purell, that contain alcohol are considered the most effective. Please make sure to send in hand sanitizer that does not require water. Thank you for your assistance with this health issue.

Recycle ALL Your PlasticsYou can now recycle ALL plastics curbside in North Andover! On the bottom of every plastic container is a raised triangle with a number inside of it. The town used to collect only plastic with a number 1 or 2. Now, ANY NUMBER is picked up. You cannot recycle styrofoam, and plastic bags have to be returned to the grocery store.

Should you wish to exercise this option, please send your payment in on a Monday with your child. Once we have received your payment, we will issue your child prepaid tickets to be used at lunch instead of money. It would be helpful if you included with your check, your child's name, their grade and which meals you are prepaying for (regular, alternate or enhanced). Please be reminded that the regular and alternate meal is $1.75 and the enhanced is $2.75.
