North Andover Schools Enrichment CouncilThis week the North Andover Schools Enrichment Council will welcome back Jim Parks. Mr. Parks is a wildlife photographer and licensed raptor rehabilitator who has presented "Wingmasters: The World of Owls" to third grade students for years. He will bring in live owls and teach the children about these mysterious nocturnal hunters through fact, fantasy and folklore. Parents may wish to visit www.wingmasters.net to learn more. The generous donations you make to the North Andover Schools Enrichment Council (NASEC), along with the support of your PTO, helps bring great programs to North Andover students. Asthma and Allergy Support GroupMark your calendars for the next Asthma and Allergy Support Group meeting on Wednesday, November 17th at the NAMS at 7:00 PM. Our next program will be on "Asthma Management and the Gadgets and Gizmos Needed to Provide It." Andover Pediatrics' RN, and three North Andover School Nurses will discuss how to assure you and your child feel comfortable delivering your medications, evaluating their effectiveness, and coordinating your care between the MD's office, home and school. The Health Advisory Council of North Andover Public Schools will hold its next meeting Tuesday November 16th from 2:45 to 4:00pm at the Bradstreet School. This Council monitors health trends and advised school administration on health related issues. We are currently seeking new members: teachers, community members, other school employees, parents. This Council typically meets monthly during the school year. Youth Center Volunteers NeededThe Youth Center is in need for volunteers for the front desk. This includes answering the phone, directing visitors, and general customer service. This is only a 2 hour commitment and your choice of once or twice a month. The most critical need is for week days from 2-6 when the Youth Center is the busiest, but there are also morning, evening, and Saturdays times available. Recycle ALL Your PlasticsYou can now recycle ALL plastics curbside in North Andover! On the bottom of every plastic container is a raised triangle with a number inside of it. The town used to collect only plastic with a number 1 or 2. Now, ANY NUMBER is picked up. You cannot recycle styrofoam and plastic bags have to be returned to the grocery store
Openings on North Andover Cultural CouncilThe North Andover Cultural Council has two openings for volunteers. This committee distributes state money through a com-petitive grant process to members of our community involved in artistic or cultural pursuits. The Council helps support school field trips, events for seniors, events at the library, concerts on the common and more. Pre-Paid Lunch TicketsThe school lunch program gladly accepts prepayment for school lunches on a weekly or monthly basis. Should you wish to exercise this option, please send your payment in on a Monday with your child. Once we have received your payment, we will issue your child prepaid tickets to be used at lunch instead of money. It would be helpful if you included with your check, your child's name, their grade and which meals you are prepaying for (regular, alternate or enhanced). Please be reminded that the regular and alternate meal is $1.75 and the enhanced is $2.75.
